Tortoise parchment and brass cocktail table by Oscar de la Renta.
I like the inverted leg detail and the bottom shelf is perfect for storing books or a backgammon board. |
Tortoise shell has a richness, depth and warmth which make it a beautiful material to work with. Tortoise shell was very popular in the 1960's and early 1970's until it was outlawed due to endangered tortoises. In recent years, faux tortoise shell has drastically improved and provides the color variation and shine which made real tortoise shell so unique. I was really impressed with
Century Furniture's new collection of parchment tortoise shell tables, mirrors and accessories. The forms and combination with unlacquered brass are reminiscent of 1960's chic.

Faux tortoise and bronze set of nesting tables. Great bedside a sofa where you need a little extra surface space. |

Faux tortoise and bronze side table. This table would be nice next to a club chair with a standing lamp. Bottom shelf provides a nice place to tuck away magazines. |
