Southampton Shopping: Mecox Gardens

Mecox Gardens
257 County Road 39A
Southampton, NY
(631) 287-5015

Mecox Gardens has made its mark in the design community thoughout the country with coast to coast locations in Southampton, East Hampton, Manhattan, Palm Beach, Chicago, Dallas, Houston and Los Angeles.  I had visited the East Hampton, Manhattan and Palm Beach locations often but was very excited to finally see the large, flagship store in Southampton.

Mecox Gardens is a must see and there is quite a lot to see.  The merchandise is divided among three areas: a beautiful garden, a covered barn-like structure and a three story house.  When walking through the garden, it’s tough not to be inspired to create your own!

Southampton Shopping: Lennegan and Marantz

Lennegan and Marantz
44 Main Street
Southampton, NY
(631) 899-4535

One of my favorite shops on Southampton’s Main Street is this new arrival from March of 2010. Here you’ll find a mix of European and American mid-century pieces. The Anglophile vibe is a byproduct of representing the iconic English fabric line Bennison, and the custom crafting of all Lennegan and Marantz upholstery in England. The upholstery is beautifully made, traditional in style with attractive exposed, turned legs and use of dressmaker details like tufting, gimps and nailheads.

Bennison's "Injico Lace" fabric upholsteres the pair of slipper chairs.

Southampton Shopping: Home Nature

Home Nature
6 Main Street
Southampton, NY
(631) 287-6277
Home Nature offers straight forward home décor in an easy to navigate, well merchandised layout.  All the white bedside tables are at the front of the store; all the barstools are in the back corner; clean lined coffee tables and oversized, lounge worthy, neutral upholstery throughout.  There are lots of pillows and accessories that all work well together to give your house an accessory mini makeover.  Great bone trays, cool outdoor lanterns of all sizes, tabletop by Mud Australia; Home Nature covers a lot of (neutral colored) ground.

Curb appeal! The matching begonias, lacquered front door and pink awning
all make for a very inviting entry to this chic shop.

A taste of everything for your home.

Southampton Shopping: Old Town Crossing

Old Town Crossing
46 Main Street
Southampton, NY
(631) 283-7740
Also available on 1st Dibs

At the astute recommendation of Southampton Architect John David Rose, I visited Old Town Crossing. Old Town Crossing offers two floors of European and Asian antiques as well as a unique assortment of new pieces, mirrors, lamps and accessories.  You will find Chinese lacquered etageres and coffee tables; French bamboo mirrors and end tables; statement pieces such as snake skin covered mirrors and iron console tables with stone tops.  The shop is well staffed with knowledgeable sales associates who are accustomed to working with interior designers.  They were quick to offer tear sheets on pieces as well as arrange for home delivery estimates.  I can’t wait to return with clients!
