Bunny Williams: Past, Present and Future

House in Provence, decorated by Bunny Williams. Image: www.bunnywilliams.com

Another interesting and informative lecture I attended at the Design Bloggers’ Conference was given by Bunny Williams. I’ve heard Bunny speak on several occasions when she was launching one of her books but this talk was about how to develop as a designer and how to practice as a good designer.

John Robshaw for Duralee Sneak Peek

Textile designer, John Robshaw.
Textile designer John Robshaw has partnered with Duralee in creating a line of fabrics available in showrooms this spring.  John currently has a fabulous fabric collection sold through John Rosselli in New York City and a bedding line availble at Calypso Home.  John is known for his block printed linens and cottons and now will add wovens in the new line.   He has successfully collaborated with Duralee to offer his unique artistic textiles to a wider audience while maintaining the integrity of his aesthetic.

John discovered his captivation with textiles when he travelled to India after earning a fine arts degree from Pratt.  He was looking for natural indigo dye to use in painting and fell in love with the local artisans’ fabric-making traditions.  He says he was fascinated by the process as well as the use of textiles in daily life, calling them “intimate companions”.  He has created “an updated spin on the exotic handmade object, a vibrant mix of sophistication and romantic allure.”  He combines techniques and patterns from various cultures to create something that is “new and fresh, and yet retains that sense of tradition, of the handmade”.

John Rosselli's New Lighting Collection

Tribune Table Lamp in
Hand-Rubbed Antique Brass with
Natural Paper Shade
Flank your bed or living room sofa
with a pair of these Art Deco
style lamps to add instant glamour!

Acclaimed antique dealer and style aficionado John Rosselli recently designed a new lighting and table collection for Visual Comfort.  Many of the pieces are inspired by items that Rosselli has picked up from his worldly travels.  Like all things Rosselli, the new collection is timeless, elegant and will add style to any space.  I was most impressed with the finishes which have nice patina.  The price point is very affordable too!

All items are available through John Rosselli International (212) 750-0060.

Natalya Chandelier in Hand-Rubbed Antique Brass
The drop beads make this chandelier whimsical.
It would be pretty over a dining table, in an entry hall or
a family room with high ceilings.

Nicola Chandelier in
Aged Iron with Gilded Iron Detailing
I like the contrasting iron and gilded
finishes.  Make it your own by adding chandelier
shades to compliment your color scheme.
